25 Motivational Quotes about Entrepreneurship to Get You Inspired

“Entrepreneurs are willing to work 80 hours a week to avoid working 40 hours a week.” - Lori Greiner

This is one of my personal favourites.  It reminds me of all the blood, sweat, and tears involved in getting your business up and running.  The sacrifices you make in the beginning are indeed massive.  There are sleepless nights.  You work tireless hours.  And your future is in limbo.  It’s tough to deal with.  But the freedom and flexibility you get in return are absolutely priceless.

“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.”- Walt Disney

So often, fear, not ability, holds us back.  Imagine all the things we could accomplish if we were not afraid to try.  This quote reminds me of when we were kids and we believed anything was possible.

Sometimes I try to channel those days when I am afraid and just want to take the easy route.

“My biggest motivation?  Just to keep challenging myself.  I see life almost like one long university education that I never had — every day I’m learning something new.” -Richard Branson

I love learning, and as an Entrepreneur, it is my primary responsibility.  I owe it to myself to discover as much as possible before taking any risks.  Risk is a major part of the Entrepreneurial journey, but you want every risk to be calculated.  Constantly learning, evolving, and staying informed will help you with every aspect of Entrepreneurship.

“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work.  And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.” – Steve Jobs

I am not afraid to say I love what I do.  I would do it, even if I was not paid, and I did.

Years before embarking on this endeavour, I started a blog called Absolutely Studying.  It grew and grew into something that I had never imagined.  I did not even try monetizing it for the first three years of that journey.  I just honestly wanted to share my knowledge and ability with other students.

There was some guilt when I decided to take the leap and actually do this full-time.  I had been programmed to think that you have to dread going in to work every morning.  If you were not building deep-seated resentment, you were not “working.”

Now, I love what I do.  I wake up every morning and go over my to-do list, and I am excited!  This resonates so much with me, and I wish the same for everyone.

“Whether you think you can, or think you can’t — you’re right.” - Henry Ford

I think everyone struggles with self-confidence sometimes.  I know there have been many days when I looked at how far I still had to go and thought it would be easier to just go back to my 9 to 5.  It is safe punching a clock.  You don’t have to worry about the business’s future, going under, or paying other people’s salaries.  You get to just show up, do your task and leave.

At the same time, I hated it.  It did not fulfill me.  I felt like I was suffocating.

Mindset is everything, regardless of what you are trying to carry out.  If you go in believing you are going to fail, you probably will.  But if you go in determined to succeed, you will not let anything stop you.  This is going to push you harder to build that empire and succeed.

“The only thing worse than starting something and failing… is not starting something.” – Seth Godin

I was always great at my job.  Sometimes, I even surprised myself.  But there was always a little voice in the back of my head that said, “Imagine what you could do if you invested this energy into building your own business.”

It terrified me, but it would never go away.

Have you ever had that thought?  Imagine all you could do and accomplish if you just were given carte blanche and allowed to do things your way?

If you never strike out, you will never know just how successful you could be.

“Fearlessness is like a muscle.  I know from my own life that the more I exercise it the more natural it becomes to not let my fears run me.” – Arianna Huffington

I agree with this so much.  The more you face your fears and the more you practice entrepreneurship, the easier it becomes.  Decisions become easier.  The fear no longer paralyzes you.

Just take the first step, and soon you will see how easy it is to walk.  If you hit some bumps, help will always be found along the way!

“Embrace what you don’t know, especially in the beginning, because what you don’t know can become your greatest asset.  It ensures that you will absolutely be doing things differently from everybody else.” – Sara Blakely

Imagination and innovation are two of an Entrepreneurs’ greatest assets.  Thinking outside the box and doing things differently may lead to amazing results.

Never stop daydreaming and inventing.  If you think you can improve on how something has always been done, try it out!  If it fails, figure out why, make changes, and experiment again.

“Everything started as nothing.” – Ben Weissenstein

Even giant corporations started out small.  You have to start before you can grow.  These are just the dues that have to be paid.

“You shouldn’t focus on why you can’t do something, which is what most people do.  You should focus on why perhaps you can, and be one of the exceptions.” – Steve Case

We have already discussed a bit about mindset.  You have to honestly believe in yourself and your ability if you hope to be successful.

Not what you hope to be or what you plan to be.  What you WILL be.

“Genius is 1 percent inspiration, and 99 percent perspiration.” - Thomas Edison

Entrepreneurship is hard work.  You need to be motivated to succeed in accomplishing your goals.  No one is standing behind you, ensuring you complete your tasks and do a good job.

You need to stay vigilant and dedicated to the work that you do.  It is on you to ensure the quality meets your standards.

We often get tired or bored and let our standards slip.  It is on you to do what is needed.  This is where the sweat comes in.

“Fear is the disease.  Hustle is the antidote.” - Travis Kalanick

I have spoken so much about fear in this article.  Let’s focus a little bit on the hustle.

Hustle is that scrappy side of your personality that gets things done.  It is your resourcefulness to come up with creative solutions to problems and do things your way.  This is how you overcome fear.

You overcome it through resourcefulness and determination.

“Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning.” - Gloria Steinem

Don’t be afraid to dream about your future life.  Imagine it so vividly you can touch, and smell, and taste it.

Live in your success and get used to it.  This is just going to push you harder to achieve it.

“Success is not the key to happiness.  Happiness is the key to success.  If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.” - Albert Schweitzer

In the early days of your business, you are going to be your only motivator.  If you are not 100% in love with what you are creating, you will not give it your all.

Find something that makes you happy and find a way to create your business from that.

“I’m convinced that about half of what separates the successful entrepreneurs from the non-successful ones is pure perseverance.” - Steve Jobs

Be relentless in building your company.  You will encounter dead ends and setbacks.  Everyone does.  Successful Entrepreneurs are the ones who find ways to overcome obstacles and provide the best products and services for their niche.

“There is no such thing as failure.  Failure is just life trying to move us in another direction.” - Oprah Winfrey

Failure is not a bad thing.  Not as long as you take calculated risks and learn from them.

Never risk more than you can safely afford to lose.  Never walk away from a loss without learning something.

Make changes, improve your offerings and respond to failure with a deliberate strategy.

“If plan A doesn’t work, the alphabet has 25 more letters.” — Claire Cook

Always learn from your mistakes.  If things don’t go according to plan, investigate and find out why they went wrong.

Your customers are your best resource.  Simply ask them how you can make your products and services better.  Ask them what they dislike about your offerings, and then make changes as needed.

There is always room for improvement, even with a million-dollar idea.  Not only will you make your customers happy, but the constant iterations will keep you ahead of your competition.

“If people are doubting how far you’ll go, go so far that you can’t hear them anymore.” - Michele Ruiz

I love this one.  The idea is that one day your success will speak volumes for you.

It’s so easy to get up in negativity and jealousy of those around us.  Stay focused on your path, and don’t engage with those just trying to hold you back because they don’t dare to do what you do.

“Deciding what not to do is as important as deciding what to do.” — Jessica Jackley

Some of my clients find their great business idea because they know exactly what they want to do.  Others take a different approach.

Crossing ideas off your list is as crucial as putting new ones on.  Don’t offer if you are not entirely in love with a product or service.  Perhaps you try it out a few times and discover it is tedious and boring.  Drop it.  It’s okay.  You’re the boss now.  You have the power to make that decision.

“Rarely are opportunities presented to you in a perfect way. In a nice little box with a yellow bow on top. Opportunities – the good ones – are messy, confusing and hard to recognize. They're risky. They challenge you.” - Susan Wojcicki

Wojcicki underscores the unpredictability and complexity of seizing business opportunities, highlighting the courage needed to navigate through uncertainty.

"It's important to be willing to make mistakes. The worst thing that can happen is you become memorable." - Sara Blakely

Embracing potential failure as part of your narrative can set you apart and forge a memorable path in business, as Blakely’s own success with Spanx demonstrates.

"To love what you do and feel that it matters—how could anything be more fun?" - Katharine Graham

Finding joy and purpose in your work not only fuels personal satisfaction but also drives sustained success and impact, as Graham’s storied career in publishing shows.

Visionary thinking leads to extraordinary achievements. Winfrey encourages us to dream big and actively pursue those dreams, as our beliefs set the foundation for our accomplishments.
