I am Teryl, and I am going to help you build and launch your business.  If you are anything like me, you have a little voice inside you that is never happy settling.  You are continually looking for the next opportunity: the next promotion, the next job, the next break.

I’m not talking about get-rich-quick schemes.  We all know that if things are too good to be true, they probably are.  I am talking about working hard, grinding, and doing what you need to live the life you want.

I am a bit of a perfectionist.  I always took pride in excelling in every position I filled.  This naturally allowed me a great many opportunities and promotions.  Still, I was never quite satisfied.

I loved taking promotions and learning new things.  This is what first led me to consulting.  The idea that I could work on finite projects, fixing problems and growing companies daily was an adventure, and I loved it.

Still, working as part of a larger company did have some drawbacks.  I was not always in control of the contracts I took or turned down.  Not that I had an issue with less prestigious or glamorous jobs.  That was not a problem for me at all.  Honestly, the bigger the mess, the better!

Some business owners see their business in only black and red.  They think the only way to get out of the red and into the black is to cut employees or their salaries.  This is not a mindset that I subscribe to.  I never wanted to be part of a contract explicitly looking to cull staffing numbers.  I preferred instead to look for creative or innovative new ways to increase revenue.

The more I reflected on my dissatisfaction, the more I realized all my woes led back to the same issue… freedom.

I just wanted to be free.  I didn’t want to have to answer to anyone.  I wanted to be free to make my own choices and be my own boss.  I wanted complete control.

As my own boss, I never have to take on a job that goes against my ethics.  I don’t have to fear repercussions for turning down a job.  I want everyone to have that freedom.

After 17 years in Management and Consulting in the medical industry, I decided it was time for a change.  I started my passion project, Absolutely Studying, because my mission was to help mature students returning to post-secondary education succeed and thrive.

I recognized that education was the great equalizer.  There was a significant gap in access to higher education and teaching people how to learn.  The primary struggle with first-year University students was adapting to the steep learning curve.

Learning in university is not like how learning takes place in high school.

  • Teachers painstakingly teach and review concepts repeatedly.

  • They ensure no one is left behind and every aspect of a topic is covered thoroughly.

  • As tests approach, teachers review all the concepts in class and often give review assignments as well.

These are all methods of studying.  Many students will follow this lesson plan and pass with decent marks, never having “studied” at home, a day in their life.

University is not like this.  Professors introduce the topic to students.  It is your job to go home and learn it.  I discovered that many students enroll in university without ever having to have studied.  Later, as they get poor marks or even fail, they will drop out of university and feel like they just couldn’t cut it.

I decided to focus my attention on remedying this misconception.  I wanted to make study skills attainable to anyone.  I especially wanted to make sure that mature students returning to post-secondary, after years off in the workforce, could excel in a post-secondary setting.

For these students, the stakes are even higher.  Often, they are single moms returning after raising their kids, just like I was.  Or possibly trying to improve their education after a loss of work.

I quickly went about creating Absolutely Studying and sharing it with students worldwide.  It started out as a blog and quickly grew into so much more.

In learning how to teach others to learn, constructing my platform, and spreading awareness, I touched on a nerve.  I discovered something unexpected.  Not only were people reaching out to me asking me for educational support, but I also attracted entrepreneurs stuck in the launching process.

These entrepreneurs were like me, ready for a sense of freedom.  They had that same drive in them.  That same nagging voice deep down telling them there was more.

It started out as just a group of accountability partners.  I would meet new people wanting to grow their brands or businesses and add them to my group.  As I networked, I met more and more of them, all with this same desire.

I had approached launching my own company as if it were a university course.  Even though I had already had several years of experience, I still dove in headfirst.   I bought every book on entrepreneurship, joined every boot camp, and subscribed to every mailing list.

I had prided myself in setting my sights on, and achieving, perfect scores on large term projects in university.  My business was going to be no different.  If there were a way to mark a start-up, I would aim for an A+.

What I discovered in all my research was that something was missing.  In all the books, in all the boot camps, something seemed off.

First, many simply did not give the depth of explanation, implementation, and detail that many people needed to take actionable steps.

Because of the nature of my perspective and approach, I expected to find a deep understanding.  I wanted all my questions answered.  I expected a precise, three-dimensional sense of what these coaches and gurus promised.  I found this was lacking.

Perhaps it was my fault.  I had set about consuming all the information, buying textbooks and growing my business my entire life.  But not everybody has the time to do this.  By the time the course was over, I often found that I had already far outgrown it or the amount of content taught was deficient.

One thing that I did find incredibly useful was accountability.  Having someone assign homework, check in on you, and hold you accountable to your goals is invaluable.

This sense of community is what I want to promote in my content.

I will share all the knowledge I have accumulated on my journey.  I believe there’s room out there for all of us to succeed.  So, I want to divulge all the details.  I won’t hold back. I won’t hide secrets.  I will give you all the step-by-step methods for what worked for me and what didn’t, in black and white.  No catch.

I will not hide the secret sauce behind a paywall or bait you into sitting through a masterclass that is mostly testimonials of why you should pay me thousands of dollars.  That is not what you will find here.

You are going to find a genuine and honest account of my processes.  Everything I tried, why I’ve done things the way I’ve done them and why I haven’t.  Some of the things I share might be standardized across the industry, and some might be unique to me.  I will always be honest with you.

You’re not going to find the hard sell.  I won’t leave out a step of information to upsell you later.  You’ve already had enough of that.

That’s not to say I don’t want to talk to you.  If you ever want to book a call or email a question, please feel free.  I have been lucky enough to have people who have answered my questions.  When you are overwhelmed, sometimes, you just need someone to bounce these ideas off of.  We all need an objective opinion at times.

If you are anything like me, you are probably waiting for the hook at this point.  We all know the money has to come from somewhere.  I have been honest with you up until now, and I don’t plan on trying to cover things up at this point.  Transparency is what I have promised, and I will stick to it.Top of FormBottom of Form

You will find some of my comprehensive packages, workbooks, and eBooks at a price.  Also, my done-for-you options and some live challenges may sometimes have a fee.

Free versions of all these resources will be available to those who can not pay.  I remember wanting so badly to buy that coaching program but not having the money to.  Committing to payments was often too overwhelming.  What if it doesn’t work for me?  Then I have 6 more monthly payments at $400?

Now comes the point in the blog post where I ask you to subscribe to my newsletter.  This is the best way to keep in touch and know what’s going on so that you can make the absolute most of all the information I’m getting ready to dish out.

I’m really looking forward to getting to know you better.  I would love to know what industry you’re in, what you’re looking forward to learning or any questions you might have.  As always, feel free to email me.

No worries, you’ve got this.  And I’ve got your back!
